Transforming Your Garage
Posted on July 20th, 2015
Want to do something completely different with your garage? Many people nowadays are renovating their garage to create a space for entertaining, hobbies, and more, rather than use it for cars and/or storage. If you are considering a garage makeover, but are not sure what to do with the space, the following are some ideas to get you started.
1.
Bring the gym to you.
We all know how difficult it is to get the motivation to go to the gym, particularly if the weather is not great. Remedy this situation by making your garage into a home gym! Invest in a couple of pieces of equipment you know you will use, such as a treadmill or elliptical, as well as some weights, a medicine ball, a jump rope, etc., and you’ll be all set. The initial investment is definitely worthwhile when you consider how much you will save by not paying for a gym membership.
2.
Create a work space for your hobby.
Many hobbies take up a lot of space in the home; even if you pack away the supplies, you have to store everything, not to mention spend the time unpacking and packing away the materials. By setting up a space in your garage for your hobby, whether it be ceramics to brewing your own beer, you can contain the mess while still enjoying what you love. When creating this space, remember to consider what can stay out and what should be put away or covered when you are not working on your hobby.
3.
Build an entertainment area.
If you are the person who enjoys entertaining guests, whether it be a Fourth of July blowout or a small get-together, you may want to consider converting your garage into an entertainment area. Depending on the kind of parties you would like to throw, you are going to want different items in your garage. Wanting to host football viewing parties? You can install a television, add some comfy chairs and a mini-fridge for beer. Subject to how much space you have, you could potentially add some parlor games, such as darts, foosball, or ping-pong. If you are more likely to have lots of people over, building a bar is a great option! Hire a professional for any wiring work, but when it comes to décor and the actual bar, it is something you can do yourself.
The possibilities are endless when it comes to renovating your garage. Whether you use one of these ideas or one of your own, it is always fun to create a space of your own. Take into consideration things such as weather-add space heaters when necessary and fans are always good to keep air circulating.
