- Tune up the moving parts of your door – A typical garage door consists of rollers, rails, chains and other metal components that can rust or get worn down overtime. Your first instinct might be to grab the WD-40, however, you will be better off using oil to lubricate the rollers or chains in order to reduce any squeaks or screeching. It’s also important to check on all metal screws attached to the door or mechanics that move the door, to see if anything needs to be tightened or adjusted.
