Many people use their garage to store their car, excess furniture, yard equipment, and other belongings to keep the safe from outdoor elements. However, while they may be safe from harsh weather, garages often produce a lot of dust that eventually settle on your stored items. Eliminate this dust in your garage with these helpful tips!
Seal The Concrete
Garages most commonly have concrete floors that end up creating a collecting a significant amount of dust. To reduce this accumulation and prevent stains from spills on the garage floor, seal every concrete surface in your garage with an appropriate sealant. Be sure to use a sealant that actually seeps into the concrete rather than one that sits on top.
Clean Your Garage Thoroughly
If you already have dust buildup in your garage, it won’t go away on its own. Start with a good, thorough cleaning of your garage. Wipe down the walls and floors to remove any particles, and use a dusting microfiber cloth to wipe down any surfaces with settles dust. Avoid using a broom or other cleaning tool that will just push the dust around rather than collect it.
Change Your Air Filter
If you have an HVAC system in your garage to control its temperature, be sure that you change the air filter as often as suggested. If your filter gets full, it no longer collects all of the dust particles moving through the vents. This dust then blows out into your garage and settles on the floor, walls, and storage items.
