The Essential Tool Kit
Posted on August 5th, 2015
With all of the available options when it comes to tools, it is hard to know which ones are actually important. No matter who you are, it is a good idea to have some sort of a tool kit, whether it be a combination of tools you have bought over time or a store-made arrangement. Your home could be a mansion or a studio apartment; certain tools will likely be needed at some point. As there are so many home tutorials available, if you have the tools, you can likely fix the small issues that come up in your home on your own.
We recommend building your own tool kit from what has been deemed essential tools by SweetHome. Oftentimes, store bought tool kits can be missing important tools, replaced with non-essentials that are either more advanced than necessary or cheap fill-ins. Assuming you do not have much of a tool kit to begin with, this allows you to both comparison shop and buy things as you have the funds available to you. If you have a decent sized tool kit already, then you can use this list as a way to see what you should add to your collection.
List of tools:
- Hammer
- Tape measure
- Screwdriver and bits: Make sure to have a good selection of bits as well as both a Phillips and flathead screwdriver.
- Allen wrenches (SAE and metric)
- Level
- Needle nose pliers
- Utility knife
- Adjustable wrench
- Slip-joint pliers
- Vise grips
While this seems like a small list, it is meant to be a starter kit. However, once you have everything listed, there are not too many small projects that you will not be able to complete!
