How to Keep Your Garage Cool This Summer
Posted on April 29th, 2019
When it comes to summertime comfort, the garage tends to be the most neglected part of the home. While many only spend minutes passing through their garage, others might spend hours there, working out or puttering on a special project.
Whatever you’re doing, you’d like to be cool, and from experienced garage builders in Chicago here are a few ways to keep the garage temperature down.
Fans
This is one of the cheapest methods of cooling a garage, preferably using two fans. Point one in the direction of the area where you’ll be, and aim the second out the garage window, if you have one, or the door to blow hot air outside.
Passive ventilation
Consider having a spinning turbine installed in the garage roof to remove heat from the garage attic.
Parking outside
An easy way to keep the garage temperature down is to leave your vehicle temporarily parked outside after using it on a hot day. Heat radiates from a parked vehicle long after it’s been driven, adding several degrees to your garage’s temperature.
New garage door
Garage heat can be reduced using a light-colored door that absorbs less heat, as well as a door with no windows, or windows that block much of the sun’s rays.
